Parents of Homeschooled kids ages 8yrs old and over, this message is for you
Starting September 6th (Extended for October) at 1:30pm-2:30 pm we are offering a
FREE Trial for the Whole Month of October
of Jiu Jitsu classes for Homeschooled Kids.
Hi, my name is John and I, along with Jasmine, own John's Gym in Austin, TX and we are excited about extending our Jiu Jitsu martial arts program for homeschooled kids.
Being a homeschool parent is done with love and care for the education and future of your child. It can also be a tough and demanding job having to plan and monitor each day of your child's education as well as extra-curricular activities.
Finding quality activities that enrich your child, and are fun, takes time and some vetting to make sure it's the right fit.
Until now, there has not been a Martial Arts/Self Defense program dedicated to Homeschoolers so they can learn self defense, increase their confidence, and meet quality like minded kids in the NW Austin area.
This is why John's Gym, with help from Homeschool Mom April Aguren, has created a special Martial Arts program for your child.
If you wanted your child to know more about self-defense, John's Gym is looking to expand its Kids' BJJ program to accommodate homeschoolers.
I've lead kid self-defense classes at co-op and the skills that would benefit kids the most can be found in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). My background is having a black belt in Aikido and Tae Kwon Do, which I've been proud to earn, but I've also studied judo and BJJ and found BJJ the most effective for learning skills that apply in real world situations.
We don't have any options in Northwest Austin for homeschoolers to learn Jiu-Jitsu, so I wanted to let people know that they are having a special of a free 30 day trial, if you commit to bringing your child at least once a week so your child can see if it is a good fit for them. You can come any Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 to try it out. The instructor, Chase, is a purple belt and also a former homeschooler. I recommend ages eight and up.
This is their offer: Try out Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu free for the month of September, starting September 6. Come to any class Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 and see if it is a fit for your child. It will be all no gi classes (no uniform required). We recommend coming at least once a week to really see if the class is for them. After the September trial is over, cost is $129/month which includes all BJJ classes and bonus, each parent per kid gets a free cardio membership which includes unlimited Cardio Kickboxing, Cardio Boxing, and Strength Training.
It was important for us that your child be able to relate to their coach. This is why we chose Chase as the head instructor. Not only is he great with kids and a very proficient BJJ Martial Artist, but he was also Homeschooled as a child. Here's a little bio on the instructor so you can feel safe knowing your child is in great hands.
My name is Chase Cozart. I am 32 years old and I have been practicing martial arts since I moved to Austin in 2010. I grew up in East Texas where I was taught at homeschool for most of my grade school years.
In my opinion, the biggest challenge was that there weren't a lot of opportunities to have a social education while being home schooled in a relatively small town.
Jiu Jitsu has helped me forge strong friendships and bonds. I chose to specialize in Jiu Jitsu early on in my martial arts career because it stimulates me mentally, physically and even spiritually more than any other art. Practicing Jiu Jitsu has decreased my aggression and negative energy.
I believe all kids should practice Jiu Jitsu because of what it has done for me and countless others I know, and I'm honored to pass on this art form to others!
